Having just died in the castle in world 6 - despite entering with 5 lives - in this 30 year old game on a rainy Sunday..... my mind cast back to tournament rounds where the wheels came off.

I mean, I'm a decent mario player. I know most of the cheats and secrets and warp zones etc, and yet despite this modest prowess level, once I die for the first time in any level, I tend to die over and over until it's game over.

When playing tournament golf I often see the same thing. On the rare occasions when I don't bogey the first hole, I tend to cruise along hitting greens and giving myself birdie looks. This seemingly stress free golf never looks like it will produce a blemish on the card and yet whilst I go further and further long I know there's trouble brewing.

Then it happens..... missed green around the 15th hole, failure to get up and down - bogey. Drive in rough on 16 - bogey. Too aggressive for birdie on 17 - bogey.... go for par 5 18th in two lost ball. Game over, ball burst. Imagine the music when Mario dies playing here. Continue? End?

End. 19th hole. How'd you play? 'ah played ok, finished badly'.

Work on keeping the concentration in mario next time.👍👍⛳😂
